Italian Security Market Report

Safety is one of the most important dimensions of quality of life individual and collective, a good with a high social value that must be guaranteed to all, in particular to the weakest and most marginal individuals. Yet it is mainly families who are afraid of crime lower income, those who live in more disadvantaged contexts and who have less personal resources to draw on private security devices. Law enforcement agencies enjoy the confidence of the population and remain among the most efficient in Europe for investigation and repression skills crimes, but alone they can no longer answer a security question that grows and at a public expense that is reduced.

Everything else is secondary.

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary. STEVE JOBS, Standford report, June 2005

Better plans, smarter decisions

When embarking on efforts to design complex things, companies often have little idea how long a project will take, what it will cost, or what they’ll finally be able to deliver to the end customer. Their initial project plans are sometimes no more than educated guesswork.

For example, in an analysis of more than 1,800 completed software projects, only 30 percent of them met their original delivery deadline and one in five of these did so by removing or deferring feature content. The average overrun is around 25 percent of the originally planned schedule. The performance of a sample of over 1,600 integrated-circuit-design projects was even more telling. Over 80 percent of those projects were late, and the average overrun was nearly 30 percent. Moreover, those projects were almost as likely to suffer an 80 percent overrun as they were to finish on time.

Delays, and the extra resources needed to counter them, mean higher costs too. The average budget overrun experienced by a group of factory-automation-software projects we studied was more than 10 percent. A fifth of those projects cost over 50 percent more than originally expected. Then there are the indirect costs. Delayed launches mean lost sales, opportunities for competitors to get ahead, and potentially damaged reputations.

Renewed optimism for the fashion industry

There is general agreement that 2016 was one of the most challenging years the fashion industry has ever seen. But we are now detecting glimmers of hope: executives report optimism (even amid uncertainty), and the McKinsey Global Fashion Index forecasts industry sales growth to nearly triple between 2016 and 2018, from 1.5 percent to between 3.5 and 4.5 percent. Emerging markets remain a crucial source of this growth; indeed, in 2018, for the first time, more than half of apparel and footwear sales will originate outside Europe and North America.

These are some of the findings from our latest The State of Fashion report, written in partnership with the Business of Fashion (BoF) to explore the industry’s fragmented, complex ecosystem. Our first report, last year, laid the foundation for rigorous in-depth research and analysis, focusing on the themes, issues, and opportunities affecting the sector and its performance. (For more, see our infographic on the ten trends that will define the fashion agenda in 2018.) This year, we are seeing real signs of change. (Source: McKinsey&Company)

Is advertising on Instagram a real business?

Maybe. In the last six months, Instagram has doubled the number of advertisers on the app. This means the competition between Instagram, Snapchat, and Pinterest has become even stronger than it was.

Now, on Instagram, we can find an enormous diversity of advertisers from almost every branch of the market. There is already more than half a million of them coming from more than 200 countries, with the top five being the US, Brazil, the UK, Australia and Canada. The majority of advertisers are small businesses, from categories such as consumer-packed goods (SPG), e-commerce, retail, technology, and entertainment.

Posting ads on Instagram is becoming more and more popular. Soon, it may be as common as it is now on Facebook, since user actions, such as clicking on links or making a purchase from the website, are being counted in the billions. It is also a great way for small businesses to understand their client better, as Instagram gives a real insight into who your real audience is and where they come from. Thanks to this, young companies can make their strategy more suitable for the bulk of their clients.

The platform has now 500 million monthly active users, and twice as many daily active users than their biggest rival, Snapchat, which has approximately 150 million of them at the moment. With video consumption still on the rise and a great amount of users, Instagram is now likely to outrun similar apps and become as common an advertising tool as Facebook.

Your form should look as awesome as you.

Forms are everywhere. They’re essential to the way you send emails, make online purchases, contact companies, log onto WiFi networks, or perform dozens of other daily activities. For the most part, filling out forms is tedious and annoying, but you’re used to it. Forms are an everyday occurrence—something you use not because you want to, but because you have to.

Form software startup Typeform has set out to change that. The Barcelona-born company believes that everyday nuisance should instead be easy, human, and beautiful. No more scrolling through miles of input boxes or zooming in and out on mobile devices to put checkmarks in microscopic squares; Typeform wants you to forget you’re filling out a questionnaire or taking a quiz because you’re having so much fun doing it. So far, it seems to be working.

Snapchat: A New Way to Promote Your Business.

According to some surveys, Facebook is the most loved and used social network in Italy, without distinction of age. It seems, however, that this social network is suffering a downturn because its users post less content every day: in the first months of 2015 only 37% of the subscribers had shared a post on their “Wall”, reason why Facebook introduced “Your Memories” function (memories of photos or posts published previously that appear on the timeline with the possibility of sharing them again. Despite these efforts, the most popular social network of the world seems failing at engaging users as it once did.
Meanwhile another App makes its way: I am talking about Snapchat.

What is Snapchat?
Snapchat is in the middle between a social network and a texting application. It’s a real instant messaging service through photos and videos. Different from Facebook, this social app doesn’t have a timeline and doesn’t offer content archiving. “Snaps”, in fact, self-destroy 24 HOURS AFTER and they are no visible anymore after that: an App which aims to simplicity and to flash content. Apparently, this simplicity is being appreciated by many: we are talking about 200 millions subscribers, from which 256 thousand are Italian. 400 millions “Snaps” per day and 30% of the users are Millennials.

Snapchat for business
The fact that Snapchat is mainly used by young users, 60% of them are between 16-24 years old, can be seen as a positive or negative aspect, depending on your business. It involves a huge amount of Millennials but excludes a large part of the society that could be potential customers for the company.
From a business perspective Snapchat can be used for different themes: the functionality called “Stories” for example, allows users to take advantage of what the company shares daily; the 24 hours self-destructing feature is another positive aspect because it compels the user to watch the “Snap” in a brief time span, favoring the company interests and its activities in a sort of continuous buzzing.
When people reply to your Snaps, only you can see them. This avoids the random negative comments that brands got used to filter on Facebook. So we are talking about a social channel that won’t influence collective brand perception with negative public opinions.
Furthermore, brands can propose discounts, coupons and promotional codes available for the duration of 24 hours only. Considering the short “Snap” and “Stories” duration, users are tempted to buy right away.

Privalue: a lead generation service

Privalue is Milaners’s online lead generation service designed with a result-oriented strategy with the aim of procuring new contacts and new business opportunities to our clients.

The key success in lead generation is finding the most efficient means to reach the client’s target demographic. Milaners leverages in more than 10 years of experience understanding customers profiles and developing strategies to reach prospects with effective messaging. Our broad service offerings enable us to be successful with all online channels including SEO, SEM, Social Media, E-mail marketing and more.

The advantage of online lead generation is that by the time the prospect reaches a site and fills in a form, they have to some extent qualified themselves, as they have made the effort to search for a specific product or service, or been dedicated enough to click on a link in an email, before reading through sufficient content to decide they are interested in finding out more.

On top of all that, Privalue lead generation offers a key benefit: clients only pay for the leads obtained. This facilitates tight cost control and enables clients to test an approach before investing large sums.

Area Pergolesi

Amazement is the word that best sums up the feeling you have at the entrance of the large open space, which is the heart of this space in downtown Milan.

You do not expect something so special accessing through the small entrance of the courtyard, but as in any well-designed architecture space, the surprise effect overwhelms you, in spite of the large quantity of exhibition spaces present in the city there and in spite of the difficulty we face to be amazed. In Italy there is no other structure with the instrumentation system fixed and always available that can turn any fantasy into reality  and fulfill needs with the same elasticity.

The 400 square meters expresses all the charm of a post industrial space: continuous concrete flooring, open space, white walls and large windows equipped with darkening system command allowing you to adjust the light level.

On top, 60 square meters hosting dressing rooms, offices, video editing room, bar area, store and a large outdoor courtyard.

A very technologically structure, characterized mainly by the presence of 12 video-projectors capable of projecting at 360° on every wall, so you can walk in a jungle or on the snowy peaks of a mountain landscape, then throw the sands of the desert.

Our collaboration with Area Pergolesi was born from the common desire to create impact. We want to propose new formats, new forms of communication and create innovative productions.
On the site you will find all the technical information www.areapergolesi.it and a detailed description of the services offered and instrumentation available, although nothing can replace a direct visit in Via Pergolesi, 8.

June the 17th – Andrea Centonze’s recent book, published by editor Milo Sciaky of Around Gallery, has been presented in a elegant and relaxed event at Milaners’ office last week. We had some drinks with the special guest of the night, Mr. Centonze, the patient author of stunning pictures of the city of Milan in the middle of the night: the result is brilliant job almost unreal for the never sleeping city. This occasion opens a season of events that will run for all summer. Stay in touch then!

Milano Design Week 2015

Today it’s the 14th of April 2015.

Today begins the crazy Milan Design Week, where the entire architecture and design world looks at us here in Milan to find the next big thing, the next trend, the next name to talk about.
It’s a great week of discovery and networking, and it feels like living in the biggest and freshest museum you could imagine, surrounded not only by dreamers and their ideas, but also by people who just love this crazy world we are part of.
Milan Design Week is the ultimate brainstorming, and we are lucky enough to have become part of it.

Our offices are, in fact, in the midst of one of the most lively neighborhoods during the Design Week: Sant’Ambrogio, right between the Triennale Cadorna and Zona Tortona. If you are in Milan to visit the Salone you cannot miss us, a lot is going on around here.

We as Milaners have campaigned –hard– to be recognized as Info Point of the area for those who are visiting the design exhibitions, events and museums.
So here we are now: our doors are open, we have the official map developed by our colleagues of Re-Rurban (the curators of the image of the district itself), we have a Neapolitan Pastiera, one cookie and a lot more to share with all of you!

Come see us, we’ll be waiting.

Behind the scenes from the Granorte 2015 photo shoot

Now that the Granorte brochure has been finally unveiled at the beginning of MADE Expo, we can share with you some of the finest moments we had on set last week.

With our dear friend Milo Sciaky and his assistant Erika, from Around Gallery photography team, we are now proud co-parents of several stunning pictures of the latest Granorte collection, just in time for them to hit the italian market.
The entire time we all doubled as movers and interior designers – jobs that, on set that day, only a trained eye could tell apart – to ensure the best output of the floors we are promoting. And we had fun too, even if our feet didn’t think so.

Shooting something as common as the floor has not been easy, but it was a challenge we gladly took upon ourselves. Putting the product first was our mission, and with that in mind what else could we do if not literally putting the cork floor as background of the picture? Let it take the scene, we said, it’s gonna be great.

And great we think it is, but between re-creating entire rooms, building a tall system of poles and wires to put the camera exactly where we wanted it and not getting killed by the kind people of Livraghi Progetto Casa who let us invade every corner of their showroom, it has not been a walk in the park.
But when at the end of the day you see the results you were hoping for, it was all worth it and the struggle doesn’t matter anymore.
